Day 1: Marrakech to Dades Valley via High Atlas and Ouarzazate

The 5 Days Tour Marrakech to Fes is incredible as it picks you up in the morning, thus throwing you into an amazing Atlas Mountains Day Trip From Marrakech. We set out in no time up the Tizi n Tichka Pass (2260m). I never pass by without having a glance of how the morning mist is drifting away, and beneath us lie the usual, earth-coloured Berber villages- it is a sight to be ashamed of. We go to a women cooperative in the area and get to view the traditional way Argan oil is made, which is a first-hand and true understanding of local handicraft.

Then, we pay a visit to the well-known Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, a UNESCO world heritage and a spectacular representation of ancient earthen construction. It reminds me of a historical film set as you are walking through its winding, historic alleys!

Our second destination, after lunch, is Ouarzazate, which is frequently referred to as Ouallywood due to its massive film studios. Here we have time, therefore, to pay a visit to the famous Taourirt Kasbah, which once belonged to the great family of Glaoui. Then the trip proceeds to the picturesque Valley of Roses, known during spring of the year because of the harvest season. And lastly we come to the grand Dades Valley to spend the night.

The dramatic and colorful canyons, the special and sculpted rock formations of the Dades Valley are our warm welcome to our first day. Here we are in a lovely riad, and you are certain of a good night rest after the picturesque drive.

Day 2: Dades Valley to Merzouga Desert (Erg Chebbi Dunes)

On the 2 nd day of your 5 Days Tour Marrakech to Fes, we will begin by taking a short tour of the Dades Gorges after which we move on to the wondrous Todra Gorge. These high canyons are 300 meters high and this provides a wonderful chance to have a quiet stroll along the riverbed. It is a kind of power of grandeur and silence of nature in between the sheer walls.

The Todra Gorge has quite slender and tall walls, which can be walked through, and this is very refreshing, especially when contrasted with the dry outside world. Moving on, we cross the flat, rocky plains going through the Berber villages and the initial glimpse of the sand dunes in the distance. This is a progressive build up to the Sahara experience.

At around the end of the afternoon, we find ourselves in the Merzouga, just in time to get the ultimate tour of Morocco Desert. It is here you join your docile caravan of camels, and make a peaceful journey across the wide and sunny expanse of the Erg Chebbi. It is a lazy, tranquil ride as the sun sets beneath the horizon that has become the remembrance that can be used to truly describe the magic of the Sahara.

The breathtaking sunset on the endless golden sand dunes of Erg Chebbi is an unforgettable, indeed magic experience of total tranquility. The 5 Days Tour of Marrakech to Fes Day Four is a transitional day, which takes you north, and the Middle Atlas Mountains. We part from the desert, and the picturesque beauties do not cease at all. We will start with our first important destination in Rissani, an important historical desert town and the old Sijilmassa where you can explore a local traditional and busy souk (market).

Rissani provides a physical access point to the old caravan trade routes, the vein of life of this entire region of Morocco in the past. We then continue to Erfoud, a town, which boasts some of the richest deposits on the antiqueness of fossils, and which with such an array of ancient things resembles the depths of the desert in a most curious and curious manner.

The most picturesque portion of the drive is by the great Ziz Valley. This gigantic ribbon-shaped oasis is teemed with millions of date palm trees and runs like a green band in the dry terrain. We have a necessary panorama, where the size of the palm groves is staggering. We move on across gorgeous mountainous landscapes, and end up in the beautiful town of Midelt, which lies between the High and Middle Atlas ranges, as our overnight destination.

The very dramatic part of this leg of the trip is the contrast of the rich greens of the oasis of the Ziz Valley against the dry mountains around. A change of environment to the cool, warm air of Midelt in the mountains is a perfect way to spend the night and thus a comfortable rest before the last push to Fes on your 5 Days Tour of Marrakech to Fes.

The last day of the 5 Days Tour that is inclusive of Marrakech to Fes is an amazing day of Middle Atlas Mountains living and an overview of the history of Roman and Imperial history. The cool cedar forest is very thick giving a cooling last mountain scenery which serves as a memorable and one of the distinct stops to meet the mischievous monkeys. Then we pass through the beautiful Ifrane, a clean, picturesque, alpine looking town, often we call it the little Switzerland, which is quite existing in the Middle Atlas.

The adventure now becomes historic as we arrive at the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis which is a UNESCO world heritage site.
