- Tour Plan :
Day 1: Arrival in Fes – Riad Welcome
The 8 days Tour of Fes begins with a personal and warm reception in Fes-Saïss Airport (FEZ). You are instantly ferried by your professional driver-guide to a comfortable place in your gorgeous, traditional Riad in the middle of the medina. So you need not have to unpack hecticly. In the evening afterward, you must take a pleasant walk about Bab Boujloud (the Blue Gate), and have your initial physical feeling of the antiquity of Fes. The soft murmure of the city that is getting ready to the night is really unique, and it preconditions a soothing atmosphere of your Fes Tours in Morocco.
Day 2: Fes – Full Day Guided Cultural Immersion
Now you really explore Fes with an official local guide, who will not show any secrets to you. Then you enter the oldest university in the world and that is the Al-Qarawiyyin. Then, there is the colorful, odorous Chouara Tannery with its huge stone vats and workers working with natural dyes- the sight form the top is breathtaking! You visit the Bou Inania Madrasa (marvelling at the gorgeous cedarwood carvings and elaborate zellij tilework). The last stop of your tour is a panoramic view of the entire sprawling Fes el-Bali medina before you leave. It is the best introduction to your 8 days Tour of Fes by this immersion into the culture of the Moroccan.
The sound of the wood carving of the artisan quarter is a resonant, deep sound, which is an auditory sign that Fes is indeed a living museum, unlike the other places I have been to. Even the sheer size of the medieval city can be comprehended only with that panoramic view.
Day 3: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou Cedar Forest – Midelt – Ziz Valley
We leave Fes, and start on our picturesque run to the Sahara. We then proceed to the chilly, alpine town of Ifrane, the so-called Switzerland of Morocco, with its European architecture. Even a short distance later we get to the large Azrou Cedar Forest where you will easily see the native Barbary Macaque monkeys playing around. We stop and go on south across the Middle Atlas. Then, the scenery changes dramatically as we exit the Ziz Valley and get unprecedented sceneries of its vast, winding oasis of palm trees. We spend the night at a classic inn in the Ziz area and the tranquility in front of the desert.
Passing through the ancient Roman road signs on the Midelt region, I can always relate to the history of the caravans that traveled by. The brightness falling on the lush green foilage of the palm grove of Ziz, enclosed in ochre mountains, is such a beautiful, unforgettable sight.
Day 4: Ziz Valley – Rissani – Merzouga – Camel Trek and Luxury Desert Camp
Today is the day of Moroccan Desert Trip! We start by driving through the Tafilalet country, and pay a short visit to Rissani, the old capital of the Alaouite Dynasty, to visit its traditional souk when the day is suitable. Then we reach the entrance to the huge dunes of the Erg Chebbi at Merzouga. Your adventure of a camel ride commences in the late afternoon. You are riding your friendly camel in the golden dunes when the sun sets in a spectacular manner changing the sands with an orange and red shade. Last but not least, you reach your comfortable desert camp where you will have a Berber dinner and will be staring at the stars all night long, the best part of any 8 days Tour from Fes.
I never forget to direct their gaze immediately after the fire has been extinguished; the very first thing one can see is the number of stars in the clear black sky over the Sahara, and it is only just incredible. This is a night that is just worth it to take the Luxury Trip To Morocco.
Day 5: Merzouga – Desert Exploration, Nomads, and Gnawa Music
After a magnificent sunrise and breakfast, we spend the morning watching the secret spots of the desert with the 4×4. We begin by going to a real nomadic family in the traditional tents where we have mint tea and get to know about their hardy style of life- this is a real cultural interchange. Next, we go to the village of Khamlia, a sacred land of soulful Gnawa music and listen to the earthy hypnotic rhythms of the desert musicians. Then it is a relaxed afternoon followed by a second and cozy evening in a good local hotel at or close the dunes, blending the Morocco Desert Tour experience thoroughly.
This is a special experience as you will be introduced to the idea of resourcefulness by meeting a nomad family; they are close to the land and tradition. You just have to be carried away by the strong, rhythmic sound of the Gnawa instruments playing in Khamlia, which is a very realistic desert atmosphere.
Day 6: Merzouga – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley – Ouarzazate
We abandon the desert, and go westward to the “Road of a Thousand Kasbahs.” We visit the magnificent Todra Gorges first where you are allowed to walk on the bed of the river surrounded by the big and sheer cliffs that have a height of 300 meters. Then we pass through the gorgeous Dades Valley, with its fantastic rock formations (so-called Monkey Fingers), and magnificent old Kasbahs. Next, we go through the picturesque Rose Valley, which produces a large quantity of rose products. Lastly, we reach the film industry center of the Moroccan version of Hollywood, Ouarzazate. We arrive in our hotel, looking forward to the discovery of history and cinema tomorrow.
The Todra Gorges tower over the earth like it would gulp you in–the size of it is enormous. One of the former tourists said that the afternoon sun on the red mud of the kasbahs of the Dades Valley transformed the entire landscape into something unbelievable to photograph.
Day 7: Ouarzazate – Ait Benhaddou – Atlas Crossing – Full Day in Marrakech
Today is full of monumental views and theatrics mountainous surrounds. We start with the famous ksar (fortified village) of Morocco, the iconic Ksar of Ait Benhaddou, which, citing its role in the major movies, is an iconic site of the UNESCO World Heritage. Then we go to the Telouet Kasbah, whose history is rich with various complexities, which was the seat of the mighty family of the Glaoui, we see there the beautiful and well preserved mosaic-work in its crumbling outer walls. Right after this we embark on the grandiose High Atlas Mountains where we traverse the breathtaking Tizi n Tichka Pass (2,260m). Late afternoon we reach Marrakech, and make an end of the longest stage of our 8 days Tour out of Fes.
When you are strolling along the earthen streets of the Ait Benhaddou, the reverberation of the ancient trans-Saharan trade is felt. The scene is an emotional view of the top of the Tizi n’Tichka Pass with the harsh and dramatic geology of the Atlas Mountains Tour.
Day 8: Full Guided Tour of Marrrakech and Departure
The additional day makes sure that your Marrakech Day Trips are not in a rush. Overall, a local guide will show you in the morning the tranquil Jardin Majorelle, where you will see the most celebrated cobalt blue structures and exotic vegetation. Then you will visit the luxurious Bahia Palace, the ancient Saadian Tombs. Then you move into the mazes of souks, which you exercise your haggling skills with spices or leather stuff. Lastly, there is the famous Koutoubia Mosque and the vibrant Jemaa el-Fna square. And then, your loyal driver also offers the comfortable transportation to either Marrakech or Casablanca Airport, which is the conclusion of your marvelous 8 days Tour of Fes.
